Under a Roof was born from a simple belief: no one should face housing stress alone. We work alongside individuals and families to find real solutions, from emergency pathways to long-term stable housing, and we stay beside you every step of the way.
We don't just find places to live. We develop services, build partnerships, and advocate for the systemic change that our communities need. Because a roof is just the beginning, what happens underneath it matters just as much.
Under a Roof started with a simple observation: people rarely fall into housing stress because of one big mistake. It's usually a job loss, a relationship ending, a rent increase, or an illness, landing on someone who had very little room to absorb it. The system that's supposed to catch them is often slow, fragmented, or built around eligibility rules rather than the person in front of it.
We exist to be the alternative to that experience. One point of contact, one team that stays with you, and a genuine attempt to solve the actual problem rather than just process a case.
That means working directly with individuals and families, and it also means working upstream: partnering with developers and councils to create more affordable housing in the first place, so fewer people end up needing crisis support at all.
These are the principles behind every conversation we have and every case we take on.
Every conversation starts with understanding your situation, not fitting you into a category.
Housing rarely stands alone. We consider income, health, family, and community ties before recommending a path.
When someone is in crisis, speed is part of the support. We cut through red tape wherever we can.
Our support doesn't end when a lease is signed. We stay in touch through the transition to stability.
